Today, we know that marijuana comes in two different species: sativa and indica, and they’re differentiated for producing different effects on your mind and body. Their price may vary according to your location and the effect you’re looking for.

You might think that the most expensive seeds are going to produce the highest quality harvest, but that’s not always how the story ends.Most of the times, the most  expensive seeds are the ones with the strongest genetics that will influence the final product. Not all seeds with strong genetics are necessarily expensive. However, expensive seeds usually cost so much because of their popularity.

The most expensive strains in the world

Just in US, where marijuana isn’t legalized in the whole country, business revenue is big. In 2017, the Colorado cannabis retail market generated $1.51 billion in sales of various cannabis products, according to Colorado Department of Revenue data released in February this year. Meanwhile, in California cannabis sales are estimated to hit $3.7 billion by the end of this year, according to new research from BDS Analytics.

This one is made by soaking marijuana buds in a hash oil, a concentrated liquid cannabis made from dissolving hashish or marijuana in solvents such as: acetone, alcohol or butane. Once the oil’s soaked into the marijuana buds, the whole piece is allowed to dry for several weeks or months.The result: a high-grade marijuana, with between 5 and 20 % THC.

This one is a mix between Granddaddy Purple, Tahoe Alien, and Green Ribbon, this strain is an indica-dominant hybrid with potent mind and body effects. According to users it has a delicious aroma, it also often produces 20% THC or more.

Loud Dream US$800 an ounce

This plant is a hybrid strain, is a sativa backcross of the hybrid, Blue Dream. It’s defined by some users as energetic and spunky. The THC levels in this strain are between 26 and 28%. This strain produces a huge amount of resin for a high-energy sativa hybrid.

 

Isla OG Canned Cannabis US$800 an ounce

This is a brand of Californian cannabis. Why so expensive? they have a particular process: After the buds are trimmed, they are immediately placed inside their can to cure. When you open it, this herb is fresh, crispy and cured just right.The THC level  is reported up to 27%

 

XJ-13 $375 an ounce

Similar to the previous ones, this plant is a hybrid strain of Jack Herer and G-13. This strain is thought to be higher than average in a cannabinoid called THCV. This strain is quickly developing a reputation as one of the rare cannabis flowers that does not give you the munchies. Though, individual samples will undoubtedly vary. This strain features a THC content of up to 22%, making it quite strong.

J1 US$350 an ounce

This plant is a hybrid strain of cannabis that is a cross between Skunk #1 and Jack Herer. It’s crystal coated and produces a delightfully upbeat sativa-dominant high. According to some users, J1 is speedy, energetic, and joyful. THC level is reported at 22% on average.
